A ministry operating system for Lutheran congregations.
A ministry operating system built for LCMS and WELS congregations. It helps church offices manage their people, events, ministries, board terms, volunteer scheduling, service planning, and communications in one calm, focused place — so your staff can spend less time on logistics and more time on ministry.
Everyone at the church. Pastors and secretaries get the full management toolkit — ministry rosters, board term tracking, volunteer approvals, service planning. Elders and ministry leaders see what's relevant to their role. Regular members can browse ministries, volunteer to serve, and stay informed about upcoming events and services.
No. lutheran.app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), or any synodical body. It is an independent tool built by people who attend and care about confessional Lutheran congregations.
The app is designed for LCMS and WELS congregations specifically. The terminology, ministry categories, worship planning features, and church structure reflect the rhythms of confessional Lutheran church life — divine services, the church year, boards and elders, LWML, and so on.
Manage your member directory and households. Plan and schedule events on a parish calendar. Track all your ministries — from Altar Guild to Youth Fellowship — with rosters and coordinators. Monitor board and officer terms with automatic expiration alerts. Plan worship services with readings, hymns, and sermon notes. Schedule volunteers for Sunday services. Send communications. And members can browse ministries and volunteer to serve, with an approval workflow.
Your church's ministries are organized by category — Governance, Worship, Education, Women's, Men's, Youth, Outreach, Fellowship, and Care. The secretary manages rosters, and members can volunteer for ministries that accept signups. Volunteer requests go through an approval process, and members get an email when they're approved. There's also a dedicated Boards & Officers view for tracking term dates, with color-coded alerts when terms are expiring.
The app is role-aware. Pastors and secretaries see everything — full management tools, all ministries, all settings. Elders see boards, directories, and service plans. Ministry leaders see their relevant areas. Regular members see a "Get Involved" view of available ministries, upcoming events, and service information. Each role sees exactly what they need, nothing more.
Sign in and choose "Set up your church" during onboarding. Enter your church name, city, state, and denomination. You'll become the admin and can start inviting others right away with an invite code.
Choose "Invite your church" during onboarding. Enter your church name and your secretary or pastor's email — we'll send them an invitation with a link to set up the congregation. You can also copy the link and share it yourself via text or email. In the meantime, you can explore the demo to see how everything works.
A church admin generates an invite code from the Settings page. Share that code with your staff, elders, or volunteers — they enter it during onboarding to request access. Admins review and approve or reject each request.
St. Martin's of Tours is a sample congregation with 22 ministries, board positions with term dates, fictional members, events, and service data. Choose "Explore the demo" during onboarding to see how everything works before setting up your own church. You can even switch between different roles — pastor, secretary, elder, member — to see what each person experiences. The demo data is inspired by figures from the Reformation.
Yes. Each church's data is completely isolated — members of one congregation cannot see another's information. All connections are encrypted. We don't sell data, run ads, or share your information with third parties.
lutheran.app is currently free during our early access period. We're working closely with our first congregations to get the product right before introducing pricing. When we do, it will be simple and predictable — no per-seat fees or surprise charges.
